Getting to the point of feeling good does have its challenges and takes some effort. I love the beginning of a New Year because it offers the opportunity of starting all over, fresh and with a clean slate. Forget about last year and how you didn't lose the weight. Forget about the fact that you still didn't organize your closets. This is a new year and a chance to start
over.
Start out by letting yourself feel good. Look around and at yourself and find things that are working. Remember the things you DID do, and did well. Don't beat yourself up because it will only hurt more than help you. When you start to look at the things you did accomplish, no matter how small, or the things you can do, you really begin to see things in a new light.
When you feel better about yourself, you automatically look better without really having to do anything else. When you feel good, you are far more likely to do things that make you feel - and look - even better. Try a new hair style. Switch up your make-up. Consume 100 less calories per day.
Walk more. Take your vitamins every day. Set a goal of working out 10 minutes per day. Get those wrinkles under control. Whatever it is, do something good for yourself. Ultimately, this is how to look good.
I never quite understood this, but I have been guilty of it, too. Overall, women tend to take care of everyone but themselves. We put ourselves last, ladies. Let's try something nuts and make ourselves a priority. No one is going to starve or not get through an hour without us.
Shut the door and focus on yourself. If it's a warm soak in the tub, reading a book, meditating, exercising...it's your choice. Not only is this important
to do for you, but it can really help take the edge off a crazy day and relieve
some stress. Remember, if you feel good, things just have a way of going better for you.
If you have to, write down a time in your planner for scheduled time just for you. If you miss a day here and there, don't worry...just get back to it as soon as you can. Make a commitment to take time out for yourself every day. Even for 5 minutes if it's all you can spare.
This is my goal for the New Year. To be nice to myself, take time out for me and do things to make me feel (and look) good! I am happy to report that while the New Year is still very new, I am loving this new plan! Some days I have more time than others, but it has made a difference in my attitude and in my opinion, how I feel and look.
My hope is that everyone reading this takes some time to do something nice for themselves. Keep in mind that feeling good doesn't just happen...it takes decision and a bit of effort from you.
So move yourself up on the priority list starting today by taking better care of yourself and I assure you, that is how to look good.
