If you want to look younger, don't forget about the importance of firming up your neck. Once you start getting that sagging skin and those "age lines" that appear on the neck, you are on your way down that road to looking older. Sometimes older than your years. Aside from wrinkles and fine lines on your face, there are other parts of the body that can really emphasize your age. Your hands, for one, are a huge age giveaway. Another huge clue as to those advancing years is an out-of-shape neck. Without proper care, the skin on your neck will begin to sag and wrinkle, just like the skin on your face. And just like the skin on your face, gravity takes its toll over the years, plus the breakdown of collagen and elastin, which gives way to sagging skin. The skin on the neck begins to show "rings" and lines as the skin loses more of its tone. You may begin to see the beginnings of a "turkey neck" which is what the sagging skin begins to look like over time. A turkey neck is extra, sagging skin that hangs down from right under the chin area, looking very much like a turkey with the red "waddle" hanging under its chin. This sagging skin is really unflattering, jiggles when you move, and wrinkles start to form on the excess skin. It might look fine on turkeys, but it isn't at all appealing for people. The key to restoring your neck back to its former smooth and toned appearance is to work the muscles in the neck. By performing exercises or "massaging" the skin in this area, the skin will begin to firm up and get back in shape. Because of the exercises, the age lines begin to fade due to increased stimulation and improved circulation. Collagen that was once broken down and loosened in this area begins to rebuild itself. When the underlying muscles and tissues become toned, the skin tones up right along with it. Don't forget your neck while taking care of your morning and bedtime cleaning and moisturizing routine. Wash the skin on your neck each day just like you do with your face. Moisturizing the skin on your neck each morning and night is important, too. Keep the skin on your neck protected from the sun with a good sunscreen, as well. As for a good exercise to tone up the skin on your neck, you want to do what is referred to as the "gulp" which you can find here. Start working on firming up your neck now to have a smoother, younger-looking appearance just in time for the holidays.
