years to your life. Do tell!
What was most refreshing about this doctor is that while he spoke of medical facts and things we’ve all heard a million times, he also spoke
of taking a more holistic approach to the prevention of age-related illnesses
and diseases. The way he described his cutting-edge practice for anti-aging health, it was kind of a blending of both medical and holistic practices.
Each individual patient is interviewed extensively and then a very specific and unique course of treatment is prescribed, from medical testing to taking vitamins.
Traditionally, there has been this sort of stigma regarding holistic treatments, and it just seems like the tide is turning a bit. More and more people are beginning to understand that holistic treatments offer an alternative and in many cases, really can help to prevent and/or reverse age-related illnesses and diseases. The goal, for both medical professionals and holistic healers, appears to be the same. The goal is to stop focusing on caring for patients after they become sick, but putting the focus instead on the prevention of illness to begin with.
Think about it. Would you rather spend a little bit of time and money preventing serious illness, or spend a lot of time and money trying to “fix” the illness? After you become sick, it’s too late to do much other than to treat the symptoms and hopefully, cure the illness or disease. But, if you can prevent becoming ill in the first place, you will have many more quality years of life instead of spending downtime in a hospital or putting yourself through the recovery process, always with a fear in the back of your mind that the illness will return.
The old saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” suddenly makes a lot of sense. If there are things you could do to prevent illness for as long as possible, it would make sense to not just hear what the experts tell you, but to really listen to what they are saying. That is a huge distinction. Hearing vs. really listening.
Imagine your life with a disabilitating illness or disease. How would it differ from life as you know it today? It’s easy to brush it off with the “it’ll never happen to me” or “we all have to die of something” comments, but guess what? We are all aging and the reality is that unless preventative measures are taken, it’s only a matter of time before illness sets in. Instead of waiting around for the day you find out you have diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer or heart disease, why not put that news off for as long as possible?
The thing is that once you lose control of your health, who cares if you have crow’s feet or wrinkles on your face? What is the point of looking younger when you are battling a serious illness? Anti-aging is truly about taking care of your greatest asset…you! This means it’s important to take care of all of you…inside and out.
Over the course of the next few days, I will be posting more
specific information about what this fine doctor had to say specifically about steps you can take to age well and add up to 15 quality years of healthy living.
